Senior Backend Engineer (Python, HealthTech, ML/AI)

Role Description

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be at the forefront of a next-generation HealthTech platform that leverages Conversational AI to support patients around the clock. Your primary mission is to architect, develop, and scale a secure, HIPAA-compliant backend infrastructure that reliably processes sensitive medical data. You will collaborate closely with engineers, data scientists, and AI researchers to integrate and optimize complex data pipelines, design robust APIs, and ensure end-to-end data integrity in compliance with FHIR and HL7 standards.

Key responsibilities:
• Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of microservices using Python and FastAPI.
• Build and optimize data ingestion and transformation pipelines for electronic health records (EHR) using PostgreSQL and GCP BigQuery.
• Define and enforce data schemas and validation rules in accordance with FHIR and HL7 protocols.
• Implement infrastructure as code with Terraform to automate deployment, scaling, and monitoring in Google Cloud.
• Collaborate with the ML/LLM team to enable real-time inference workloads and seamless access to model endpoints.
• Develop and maintain observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager) to guarantee system reliability and rapid incident response.
• Perform capacity planning and optimize database performance, query efficiency, and storage costs.
• Conduct security reviews, audits, and contribute to continuous improvement of HIPAA compliance processes.
