Senior Backend Engineer

Role Overview

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Bidpoint, you will be instrumental in architecting and building our high-load document processing and search platform. Working closely with the founders and a compact team, you’ll own the design, tuning, and scaling of data pipelines that ingest, index, and retrieve millions of procurement documents daily. Your deep PostgreSQL expertise—schema design, indexing strategies, sharding, and extensions like PostGIS—will ensure sub-second response times under peak loads. You will also contribute to API design and integration in Node.js/TypeScript, collaborating with optional Python microservices and front-end teams using React/Next.js.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, optimize, and maintain PostgreSQL databases at scale, implementing sharding and custom extensions.
• Develop and refine search engine workflows for document indexing, full-text search, and metadata extraction.
• Write robust, well-tested backend services in Node.js/TypeScript, ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks through profiling and query optimization.
• Collaborate directly with founders and CTO to align technical solutions with business objectives.
• Mentor peers on best practices in database internals, API development, and system design.
