Founding Engineer (iOS)

Job Description

You are invited to join a US-based early-stage social media startup as a Founding iOS Engineer, playing a pivotal role from day one in designing, developing, and scaling an innovative social media app for authentic self-expression. In this startup job you will work fully remotely, collaborate directly with founders and cross-functional teams, and have real ownership over product direction.

Key responsibilities:
• Drive growth by providing and reviewing end-to-end technical solutions, ensuring high performance and reliability in a social media app environment.
• Act as an active contributor to the full product development cycle—ideation, proposal, implementation, testing, and deployment—to bring new features to millions of users.
• Think like a user: use the app daily, gather feedback, and prioritize features or bug fixes that solve real customer pain points.
• Architect, design, and implement flexible, modular, and scalable application architecture using Swift and Objective-C, REST API integrations, and modern client–server patterns.
• Optimize performance and improve application behavior on various iOS devices by profiling memory, CPU, and graphics usage.
• Research and prototype solutions for complex challenges, from real-time updates to offline mode and data synchronization.
• Develop secure, maintainable, and testable code, writing unit tests and UI tests to guarantee product quality.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, UX/UI designers, backend engineers, and QA specialists in an agile environment with minimal bureaucracy.
